Some may seem like relatively minor inconveniences, such as a clogged toilet, but are actually the signs of a larger problem in your plumbing. Other issues, such as burst pipes, can cause major damage very quickly. In this blog, we\u2019ll cover three of the most common plumbing emergencies, their causes, and how to address them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Clogged Toilet<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robillardplumbing.com\/plumbing-services\/faucets-toilets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">toilet<\/a> is draining slowly or not at all, it\u2019s probably clogged. This usually happens when someone tries to flush too much toilet paper, but flushing other items can also cause clogs. Napkins, hair, and even some wipes labeled as flushable should be disposed of in a waste basket, not a toilet. A plunger or toilet auger is usually enough to resolve this issue, but if you\u2019re still having trouble, you may be dealing with a damaged sewer line or something else. Constant dripping can increase your water bill and make it easier for mold to grow. A leaky faucet is usually caused by old or damaged parts such as washers or gaskets. The simplest fix is to shut off the water to the faucet, remove and disassemble the faucet, and check for worn out parts. You can then replace the problematic pieces. The first step in addressing a burst pipe is to turn off the water supply to prevent further leaking. You\u2019ll then want to open your faucets to drain the remaining water.
